Dear Neighbor:

This is a brief resume of the meeting of your FMB held yesterday.

We all owe a great vote of thanks to treasurer, Howard Morris and finance committee, as well as grounds committee chairman, Fred Nichols and co-chairman John Lobingier and balance of grounds committee for outstanding service to Sea Pines. Their work assisted the FMB tremendously in budget cuts needed as we were faced with a 20% increase in maintenance fees. After many hours of work, this increased fee has been reduced to 10%. It is well realized by your FMB that we would all like no increase, but after working with each item carefully and realizing we must be thinking of the long term health of Sea Pines, a budget of $314,955 was passed. Our monthly maintenance cost will rise 10%.

Last year our beach was made unpleasant by large amounts of sea weed. A long term investment in a raking mechanism was approved. This will be towed by our present three wheel vehicle as needed by our own staff.

Our club house interior will continue to be improved with a few solid pieces of furniture and anything else this hard working committee can do with limited funds.

Our tennis court number one will be resurfaced as severe top breakdown exists. Court number two will be delayed another year. Courts three and four will have cracks patched. The areas where the earth is higher than playing surface and over fence posts will be regraded to increase life of posts and playing surfaces.

The proposed putting green and east fence will be deferred as will our painting cycle for the year. A qualified painter and our staff checked the ocean front buildings and felt condition was satisfactory and could wait. If weather allows our staff will treat the rusty nail heads with special material utilized by the Navy in the past.

We now have an excellent staff of two full time men and a part time man. This staff we believe will accomplish much more than contract help and continue to keep costs down.

Sincerely,

Bernie Phaneuf
