Dear Neighbor:

Spring is only three weeks away and the winter has gone swiftly here at Sea Pines. The Grounds and Maintenance Committee have been extremely busy. A survey showed 33 lower decks needed work; seven have been repaired or completely rebuilt. The preparatory work has been done saving a considerable amount of money on three upper decks that need to be done by an outside contractor. A new snow plowing contract was signed with McNamara Brothers. There have been siding shingles repaired, Flashing and roof shingle repairs done on some garages.

Fred Nichols has noticed some dryer vents clogged on the outside. Dryer vents clog up both outside and inside. These should be cleaned by the owner. This problem will be checked out by Scott Jordan and for those that can't clear their own dryer vents, he hopes to have a plan that each homeowner can pay a fee to have this service performed. If you can remove your outside screen and remove lint or detach vent and clear the piping this will take care of the problem. Lint plus condensation could get dangerous. Dick Nelson stated that a vent that was plugged would have no draft and therefore no lint would be collected on your dryer lint screen.

A tremendous amount of outside maintenance has been possible this winter, thanks to an excellent crew plus favorable weather.

Security Chairman, Bob Sheils made a motion to change all locks that currently operate off the clubhouse key, because over the years many keys have been given out and this affords access to many people not associated with Sea Pines. This motion was passed.

Our annual meeting will be held at the new VFW Post 9917 on Freeman's Way opposite the golf course. The town hail will not be available this year. Our Special Events Committee will supply sweet rolls, etc. and the VFW will supply the coffee.

We received a letter from Scott Jordan regarding dissolving of his old corporation and the formation of a new one. The contract will be identical except the name will be Cape Management Associates, Inc. The officers of this corporation are James E. Trainor, Pres., Scott C. Jordan, V. Pres., Jennifer J. Beard, V. Pres., and Charles H. Clark, Sec. and Asst. Treas. Scott Jordan will continue to be available for advice, consulting and back up, as well as Jim Trainor, when needed. Chip Clark eventually will be handling the day to day items with Scott.

Sincerely,

Bernie Phaneuf
