SEA PINES HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION

November 9, 1989

Dear Sea Pines Homeowner:

At the October 28, 1989 meeting of the Facilities Management Board, homeowners were asked to be sure and return their winterizing plan to CMA, Inc. immediately. We were also reminded by the Grounds and Maintenance Committee that large boxes, furniture, etc. should not be put in the trash areas. Our trash contract does not include hauling off such discards. Please find a way to get rid of such large objects yourself. Thanks.

it was reported that the Sea Pines Facilities Management Board has notified CMA that it will not be renewing their contract for another year and that the Board is currently working to confirm a contract with another management firm. Homeowners will be informed of the details as soon as all confirmation is concluded. The systematic, careful work and recommendations of the Management Study Committee have been thoughtfully used by the Board in its decision-making process.

A letter from a year-round resident homeowner was read. The letter expressed concern over the high increase in electric heat and inquired as to the potential for changing to gas heat at Sea Pines. The Grounds and Maintenance Committee is in the process of examining this alternative and a Board member will report on a seminar to be held on this issue. The bulletin board in the Clubhouse contains all updates on meetings being held on Cape regarding the outrageous raise in electricity rates by ComElectric. I will keep you informed as we receive more data on costs for conversion, space requirements per unit, etc.

The Board spent the remainder of the meeting on the 1990 budget. The budget will be finalized at the December 2 Board Meeting. At this time we look to be in very good financial health. The excellent homework of Bob Grogan, Treasurer, was both informative and helpful to the process of planning ahead.

I continue to be impressed with the time, effort and interest so many homeowners give to Sea Pines. Like Bob, who spent hours preparing for and attending meetings to present a clear report, there are many others. For example, as I left the Clubhouse on Saturday, a couple were working on the library and had contributed a large number of current books. Our thanks go out to all of you who make Sea Pines a great place to live, vacation and enjoy.

Happy Thanksgiving to all,

Betty Anne Liddle, Chair
Sea Pines Facilities Management Board
