Sea Pines Homeowners Association

Dear Homeowners:

What a beginning for the summer season at Sea Pines. There was bright blue sky for four solid days, the pool was open and used, Joanne is back as pool attendant, landscaping and mulching makes Sea Pines look fresh and beautiful, boats were moved to their beach moorings and there was the usual parking problems for a busy Memorial Day weekend. This was generally a grand start for those of us who are primarily summer residents.

The FMB met on Saturday and several issues were discussed as well as preparation made for the Meeting in Lieu of the Annual Meeting. It was discouraging to hear from Grounds and Maintenance that a homeowner had dumped crank oil on the premises. Not only is this a severe environmental hazard but against the law. Please let us all become increasing aware of the need to preserve our Sea Pines environment. As I walked down to the beach and spotted lady slippers in our wooded areas, I felt reassured that we have a special place to live and enjoy and that each of us has a responsibility to maintain this environment.

It was agreed by the Board that all past and future variance approval forms will be attached to each homeowners title and be a part of any sales agreement. It had become unclear or unknown to some new homeowners where changes were made and therefore their responsibility for continued maintenance of such areas that need repair, painting, etc.

I ask that you destroy the Insurance Bulletin dated May 1990. The figures were mistyped and are inaccurate. You should have received a copy labeled "Important Notice, Revised June 1990, Sea Pines Homeowners Insurance Bulletin." This is the correct information. Please read this new material and recognize that the guidelines for your personal property and liability coverage are only a suggestion from the Insurance Committee.

The playground committee has moved thoroughly and rapidly and presented the Board with these separate plans and recommendations for new playground equipment. The Board accepted a proposal from Home Management Sales for equipment and installation. It is planned that the equipment will be ready for use by July 15.

I want to thank Mary Early and her committee for the lovely Welcome Back party on Saturday night. It was nice to see and meet old and new friends.

For your information I have enclosed materials on 1) 1990-91 Board officers and members, 2) Dates of future Board Meetings, and 3) 1990-91 Committee Chairs that were elected/selected as a part of the Annual Meeting and meeting of the new Board on Sunday, May 27, 1990.

I look forward to seeing all of you as we start the summer season at Sea Pines.

Regards,

Betty Ann Liddle
