Dear Neighbors:

A good deal of time was spent at the March 29 FMB meeting discussing the installation of a new sewage disposal system in Duneward Lane and miscellaneous repairs needed to be made to a system on Landing Lane. Proposals from three different contractors were reviewed and the contract was awarded to Northeast Construction. The work is expected to begin soon and be completed by no later than May 15th. The cost of this work is approximately $24,000. The work needed to be performed at Duneward includes relocation of underground electrical lines, and so may not be reflective of the cost to replace the "average" Sea Pines septic system, but nevertheless the importance of adequate reserves, as well as careful maintenance to extend the useful life of existing systems as much as possible, is clear.

Enclosed with this newsletter is an updated copy of the (still) Reasonable Rules and Regulations, incorporating changes made by the Board at the February meeting. You will note some revisions regarding the use of the beach storage shed and the temporary upland boat storage. These changes were designed to prevent these areas from becoming the last resting place of old, forgotten beach chairs and boats.

Finally, in response to a number of comments received by me and other Board members concerning the use of the clubhouse by organized groups, the Board has established a small committee to review and, if necessary, update the clubhouse policies.

The Annual Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, May 25, 1997 between 8:30am and 12:00 Noon. I encourage all to attend.

Sincerely,

Joe Herlihy
