Sea Pines Homeowners Association Newsletter

March 3, 2013

Dear Neighbors,

The February 9 blizzard left Sea Pines with a gift - yet more beach sand! Continuing the pattern of storm aftermaths over the past couple of decades, our beach gained another 1 to 2 feet of sand. At the end of February at least, there were no more steps after the landing at the end of the beach path - it's all been covered with sand. You step from the landing onto the beach.

Completely unlike last years' very busy dolphin stranding season, to the best of my knowledge, there have been no dolphin strandings in Brewster so far this year. Tis a mystery. But I'll take a no-stranding season any time.

The Landing Lane residing project continues. Two of five clusters are complete, a third cluster should be complete by the end of March, and the other two clusters are having their old siding removed, rot being repaired and trim being installed.

You'll see a new face around the property from Mercantile Property Management. Our existing property manager since 1989 (24 years!), Craig McGowan, has decided to reduce his workload to a more manageable 40-50 hours per week and has hired Allen Carleton to gradually become the new property manager for Sea Pines. You can get some info on Allen at the Mercantile web site, http://www.mercantileproperty.com, and click on "About Us" then "Management Team".

Did you know that Mercantile offers the option of having your monthly condo fee automatically withdrawn from your bank account? Doing so saves Sea Pines money since the cost of printing the monthly coupons and mailing them to you is eliminated. It saves you a bit of money also since you don't have to pay postage (which just went up again in January!) to mail it in every month. All it takes to get this done is filling out a form and supplying a voided check. Contact Mercantile for information and the form.

FYI - the March 30 FMB meeting will start at 9am rather than the usual 8:30am.The next meeting after that will be April 27. The Annual Meeting will be on Sunday May 26 at 9:30am at The Brewster Ladies Library.

Sincerely,

19 Landing Lane
