Sea Pines Homeowners Association Newsletter

August 30, 2014

Dear Neighbors,

OMG! Is it Labor Day weekend already? It's been a curious weather summer this year - decidedly pleasant and lacking completely in excessive heat and humidity. I'm not sure but I think it has not hit 90 once this summer in Brewster. I certainly won't complain if such delightful weather happens again but the lack of real heat has meant getting into the bay water has taken a bit more courage this summer.

The re-siding work starts up again next Tuesday, September 2. Owners on Friendship, Hollow and Grove should remember to read the letter Mercantile sent you a week or so ago about unit preparation. All owners: remember that if you want to prepay your entire additional condo fee for this project and get a 2% discount, you must do so before September 1. Every unit that does prepay (even after Labor Day) will help save Sea Pines interest charges on the bank loan, which will translate into reduced condo fees in the future.

The clubhouse meeting room renovations are expected to start in October. This will include a new floor (wood-look vinyl laminate with cork backing), painting (including the ceiling), new granite-topped storage units at each end of the room, a bookshelf unit where the piano is now and other work. Furniture replacement and other changes will be done in subsequent projects in future years.

How would you feel if an ambulance could not make it to your unit because of being blocked by parked cars? Parking was again raised as a serious issue at today's FMB. It is especially serious on Sea Pines drive around the beach bath entrance and on Overlook. Too often, there are cars parked illegally or parked on both sides of the street which would make it impossible for emergency vehicles to make it through. When your friends visit to use the beach with you, please have them park up at the clubhouse or somewhere else (legally) and not clog up our roads. Do you park your car in your garage? If not, you are contributing to the parking problem.

The topic of cleaning dryer vents was brought up at a recent FMB meeting. It's been 5 years since the last mandatory cleaning so I suspect this will be required again shortly. You might want to get it done (and save proof of it being done - a receipt will do) or at least plan to get it done. There is information about this on the web site. Click on "Chimney and Dryer Vent Cleaning".

Reminders:

The next FMB is Saturday, September 27 at 8:30am in the Clubhouse. Click on the web site's "events" link to see the current schedule.

Got a topic you'd like to see in a future newsletter? Send me an email with the information and I'll see what I can do.

Sincerely,

Christopher Wroten
