Sea Pines Homeowners Association Newsletter

December 29, 2015

Dear Neighbors,

"Oh, the weather outside is frightful...." Yes, it's a bit nasty today at Sea Pines with the first measurable snow/sleet/rain/yuck!-fall of the year although you'd probably need a millimeter ruler to measure it. Two days ago was another warm day, so typical of the December weather thus far. I walked the beach comfortably using just a windbreaker - so quiet, so peaceful, so refreshing, so ... nice. Definitely not doing that walk today.

There have been a couple really nice social usages of the Clubhouse meeting room since Thanksgiving, both for dinners. It's great to see the room being used this way. News! The FMB approved the next phase of work in the Clubhouse which will replace the two entrances in the main hallway and repair all the rot found during the siding project.

The new entrance doors will have a glass panel so it will be safer opening the doors without clonking someone on the other side. The fixed panel lower hallway windows will be removed and the single pane upper windows will be replaced with energy-efficient double pane windows. New gutters will also be installed. Also approved is a project to fix the painful sound echo problem in the meeting room. Personally, I hope something can be done to scale back or replace the massive, wildly-overgrown, gargantuan rhododendron threatening to swallow a good portion of the clubhouse hallway and meeting room walls.

The project to get the free LED street lights from Cape Light Compact has finally moved along. The 17 light posts along Sea Pines drive will be replaced with new 20' tall 6x6 pressure-treated poles sunk 5 feet or so into the ground. The new lights will then be attached and wired to these posts by Cape Light Compact. This should happen in the spring.

Here's the first deadline reminder of the almost new year! Get your requests for boat moorings off the Sea Pines beach to the Beach and Boating Committee by February 15. For information, go to the Sea Pines web site, click on "Rules and Regulations", then click on "Boating".

Automatic payment of your condo fee from your bank account is easy to set up and saves both you and Sea Pines money. You save the money for a stamp and Sea Pines saves the money from not printing payment coupons for you. It also saves you the administrative fees tacked on should you forget to mail in your payment. Contact Mercantile for information about this.

Units for sale at Sea Pines have been scooped up quickly for the most part. Only 3 units are currently on the market and one of them is under agreement at this time. 7 other units sold in 2015.

The next FMB is scheduled for Saturday January 30 at 9am.

Happy New Year! Only 5 months (or so) before the first brave (and usually very young) souls splash into the bay water.

Sincerely,

Christopher Wroten
