Sea Pines Homeowners Association Newsletter

May 28, 2017

Dear Neighbors,

Happy New Year! Ok, it's pretty late for that greeting, but it's been a pretty quiet fall, winter and spring so far, since my last newsletter. Quiet can be good...

The newsletter from 18 months ago talked about the planned work at the Clubhouse and the LED street light program. It's good to say in this newsletter that the projects were completed some time ago and how well they worked out. Nice!

Lots of changes down in the Bluff dunes area, as the homeowners there have privately funded an effort to remove invasive plant species from the dunes, enthusiastically approved by the Brewster Conservation Commission. It looks rather naked now but will be filled in with native plantings over the next couple of years. I find it amazing there was so much invasive growth living there that was removed.

We have a new pool attendant. Please stop by and welcome Bob McDonald.

On the real estate front, 9 Sea Pines properties were sold in 2016 compared to 7 in 2015. Two more have sold so far in 2017 and just 3 properties are on the market now.

Lastly, my personal prediction from last year's newsletter has come true. My wife and I have sold our off-Cape home and are moving to Maryland in September but are keeping our Sea Pines condo for a year or two. Since I can't be here much to attend FMB meetings for Phase 1, I will be resigning from the FMB probably after the August meeting. It has honestly been a pleasure [mostly] to serve the Sea Pines community in various roles since being elected to the FMB in 2007, especially (and surprisingly!) as FMB clerk since 2009, occasional newsletter author for the past several years and webmaster since 2004. These roles will be assumed by others but I will continue to manage the Sea Pines web site for now.

Sincerely,

Christopher Wroten, 19 Landing Lane
