SEA PINES NEWS

September 5, 1994

It was just yesterday when I wrote with eager expectation the coming of the summer season. It has come and it has gone with lightning speed and now I look forward to fall. Our September FMB board meeting will include our first look at the 1995 Sea Pines budget. There are many items that are desired by our various committees and homeowners. Current budget items have increases looming so it is imperative that as many homeowners as possible participate in our preliminary discussions.

Work on the repairs to 18 Friendship are progressing on schedule and no new surprises have been found.

We have renewed our insurance policies with the Traveler's. Not only are our premiums higher but so are our deductibles. Each insured loss will now carry a $2,500 deductible with the exception of wind damage which will carry a $5,000 deductible.

The cable company has inspected the work that they have done at Sea Pines and share our feelings that it was not well done. The changeover to the new system will be complete on October 1. If you have not been converted, contact the cable company immediately.

We are pursuing the option of re-keying the common locks at Sea Pines with non-reproducible keys. This will not only make Sea Pines more secure, but will address some of the concerns regarding unauthorized rentals.

Many homeowners were present at the FMB August meeting to express concerns over the rental problem. It has been suggested that a by-law change be enacted to increase the penalties we are allowed to levy if our rules are ignored. We will be working toward that end over the winter.

Our next FMB meeting will be on Saturday September 24, 1994 at 8:30am in the clubhouse. It will be a beautiful fall weekend and the perfect time to take in a meeting. I hope to see you there!

Regards,

Richard N. Rose, Chairman - FMB
