Sea Pines Homeowners Association Newsletter

September 2, 2011

Dear Neighbors,

Last Sunday was Hurricane Irene. It was less than it could have been and that is a blessing. To the best of my knowledge, there was just tree limb damage, no trees came down. However, near the tail end of the storm, at 6pm on Sunday, Sea Pines lost power which was not restored until late Monday night. Sea Pines can count itself lucky since even now, my primary home off-Cape is STILL without power which is not expected to be restored until 2 days from now, which will be more than a week without power. Blech! We actually drove home, saw no power, and drove back to Sea Pines!

If you were here during the power outage, how did you fare? My wife and I enjoyed a thoroughly wonderful get-together and dinner at a Sea Pines friend's home with a few other homeowners. Despite the lack of power, it was a simply wonderful time with great food, good friends, and, due to the happy circumstance of one of the friends collecting oil lamps, lots of light!

Hurricanes tend to mark the trailing edge of summer and that's certainly true now. It's been a lovely summer! Please stop by the BYOB Cocktail Party at the Clubhouse this Sunday, 5-7pm. Bring a munchie and stay for a chat.

Don't forget that boats must be removed from the Clubhouse parking lot, the kayak racks and the beach by October 15. Please also remove your beach chairs and whatnot from the beach shed by October 10.

Let me know if you have comments on this newsletter or thoughts on future ones or the Sea Pines web site.

Sincerely,

Christopher Wroten, 19 Landing Lane, cwroten@comcast.net
