Sea Pines Homeowners Association Newsletter

November 6, 2011

Dear Neighbors,

Last weekend was the unseasonable blizzard that struck much of Massachusetts, with much tree damage and lengthy power outages. Sea Pines was, fortunately, pretty much unaffected. We had about 24 hours of very strong winds, a lot of rain and a few tree limbs down. I went down to the beach on Monday and was amazed by the amount of sand on the beach path landings. Both the remaining two steps were totally gone, the lower large landing was completely covered, the main landing was mostly covered and there was significant sand on the first three sets of graded steps up from the main landing!

There is still a Hobie boat and trailer on the Clubhouse lawn. If it's yours, please remove it immediately. All boats and trailers are to be removed from this area by October 15.

Sea Pines is required by the Brewster Conservation Commission to take down the kayak racks on the beach each late October and document their removal. Our maintenance staff had to contact 9 owners who still had kayaks on the beach racks after the October 15 deadline and then had to physically move 6 of those kayaks completely off the beach so they would not be washed out to sea or pushed up into the dunes. Removing kayaks from the racks on time is a home owner responsibility. It is not fair to our maintenance staff to make them do it, which means they are NOT able to dedicate that time and effort towards things Sea Pines needs them to do. They are not your concierge service.

The FMB is spending a fair amount of time discussing what to do about the widespread and significant siding problems in Landing Lane, including not just what to do about it but also how the potential choices could be financed. No decisions yet. Of course, similar issues exist in varying degrees on the other streets (except for the recently resided Bluff) and will also need to be addressed.

If you missed the Labor Day cocktail party in the Clubhouse, you missed a good one. The Clubhouse was pretty much filled with great food, drink and conversation being enjoyed by lots of people. Looking forward to the first one next Memorial Day weekend! Could be fun to do a "Sea Pines" sunset lobster roll cruise out of Sesuit Harbor next summer. Keep that in mind! If you have ideas for social events, please give Eileen Monroe a call at 508-896-3657.

Let me know if you have comments on this newsletter or thoughts on future ones or the Sea Pines web site. Stay warm, stay safe, and have a great winter.

Sincerely,

19 Landing Lane
