NEWS FROM SEA PINES

Dear Neighbors,

Summer has arrived after the nicest spring we've had in many years. am sure everyone is thrilled with the way our entire complex looks, from the beautiful plantings at the entrance to the landscaping, pruning and tree thinning throughout the property; Sea Pines is a place of which we can all be proud. Many thanks to the front entrance committee and the grounds and maintenance committee for their tireless work.

Due to recent storms on the east coast our insurance rates have risen substantially. Even though our loss record has been excellent, our insurance committee, after much effort has been unable to obtain competitive quotes on our coverage therefore our insurance costs will rise by about 15%.

We have had two problems with our septic systems. They are overworked and items such as disposable diapers and tampons have been found. Please remember these systems are fragile and can only digest what you or I eat or have already digested. Some waterfront owners have been pruning the shrubs in front of their units, they should only be pruned by our landscaping people so the bluff may be preserved.

On the upside, Underground sprinkler systems have been installed by unit owners in clusters 4 & 5. Many more areas are obtaining estimates for installing these worthwhile systems. Trim painting has been completed on the Dunes and Bluff, the lower tennis courts have been resurfaced, and the beach has not been revisited by excessive seaweed. Our new committees have been formed you should see each chairman's name listed in the clubhouse. Everyone is invited to become active on a committee that addresses an interest or concern you have.

Regards,

Richard Rose - Chairman FMB
